Today wasn't too eventful...
BUT we did play Hi-Ho CherryO and CandyLand.
And Levi (age 3) counted in Spanish almost completely by himself!
He just started picking up cherries and murmuring "uno...dos...tres.."
And went all the way up to 10!!
He only hesitated on a couple of them but I told him the beginning sound that they made...like "oh" if it was "ocho" (8) and he just said it and kept on going!!
While my husband may be from Mexico and his first language is English, we've never really taught it to the kids. It was our way, initially, to secretly communicate with each other things that we didn't want little ears to understand.
But eventually they caught on to helado (ice cream), dulce (candy) and pelicula (movie).
All the fun words were ripped away from us, slowly but surely.
Now we're left with boring ones.
Like "dientes"...which is teeth.
Oooh, the forbidden joy in whispering "teeth" in a secret language above their heads in the mall...
sigh
